Most badges offer a choice of two types of enamel. Hard fired enamel is a jewelers enamel that is overflowed into an area on a badge and is then baked at a very high temperature. It is smooth to the touch, very durable and is usually standard on badges with deluxe (high end) finishes.
Regular enamel is paint that is flowed into engraved letters on a badge and then wiped off. Letters are not flush with the surface of the badge, but have a slight indentation. Regular enamel is usually the choice for standard level finishes, but hard enamel may be chosen for a small additional cost.
If you choose hard fired enamel for your badge, it will add 5 to 10 days to the manufacturing time needed to make a custom badge. Badges with hard fired enamel require up to 17 additional manufacturing steps which is why it takes a slightly longer time to make the badge.
Watching the Steps involved in making a custom badge is extremely interesting. Both Blackinton and Smith & Warren have videos of their badge making process. It's well worth spending the time to watch!

Are you proud of your Badge? Do you wear it with pride? We already know that the answer is a resounding YES! Wouldn't it be nice to put a smaller, courtesy version on a Key Chain? Well, EPoliceSupply can do it.
Custom Key Chains are simple and inexpensive to make. They're terrific for fund-raising, building brand awareness and establishing a sense of camaraderie in communities, companies, departments and more.
It's easy to get started. Just e-mail us a picture of your badge and let us know approximately how many Key Chains you would need. We'll take it from there.
Pricing is simple as well. Just a small one-time die charge and a cost per key chain based on quantity needed. We'll send a quote as soon as we receive the picture and quantity. (minimum order is 50 pieces)
I've pictured just a few of the custom Key Chains we've already done.
